A Snapshot of High Street Bridlington
Linda Ellis, a local Bridlington Author has written a wonderful book entitled "A Snapshot of High Street Bridlington". This book on the High Street of Bridlington has recently been published and it is available to buy both direct from Linda Ellis and on-line at Amazon.com.
Additionally, on 12th September 2015, Heritage Day, Linda Ellis will be available in the Bridlington Old Town Gallery and Information Point. Linda Ellis will be all too pleased to welcome anyone there and will have copies of her book "A Snapshot of High Street Bridlington" available for purchase. Linda Ellis will be signing copies of the book for people to take home with them.
High Street is in Bridlington Old Town and before the emergence of Bridlington Quay had a thriving business community. The purpose of this book is to document the yards behind the properties in the Bridlington Old Town High Street and to give the reader a flavour of the time.
Many of the houses and cottages on the Bridlington High Street have since been demolished although today three quarters of the buildings on this street are listed. Local directories, censuses and photographs have been used for the period from c1891 to c1918.
